is a Kiwi IFMGA guide based in Interlaken Switzerland.
He loves helping people realise the dreams they have for challenges in the mountains. He has worked with school students and the disabled, through to climbers who want to develop more skills to help them achieve their goals.
Tim’s adventures started with exploring the Southern Alps of New Zealand. His many ski tours and climbs included this new route, “The Mutant”, on Mt Lendenfeld. Following his dream found him in Canada ski touring and ice climbing, bigwall climbing in the USA, freeriding in La Grave, France and trad and mixed climbing in the UK.
Tim became a mountain guide in 2003 and a fully certified IFMGA guide in 2011. He has worked with people from all walks of life, guiding in New Zealand, Australia, Nepal, Norway and the European Alps. After many years of working in the mountains the satisfaction of seeing people realise their dreams keeps him passionate (and fit too).
Notable guided summits include Ama Dablam, Kyajo Ri and Mera Peak in Nepal. In New Zealand he has guided Aoraki/Mt Cook and Mt Aspiring as well as most of the South Island major peaks. In the Swiss Alps he guides the Matterhorn and the Eiger.
Tim’s ski guiding includes five seasons heli-skiing in NZ and four seasons freeriding and ski touring in the Swiss Alps.
Tim’s composure in the alpine environment and attention to safety combined with a laidback kiwi manner will ensure you have a memorable adventure with him and realise your dreams.
Languages: English (of course) and German.
Contact Tim via WhatsApp if you have any queries. Or you can email him here.
He’ll respond as soon as he is free (which may be a few days if he’s up in the mountains).
grew up in the stunning mountain region of the Toggenburg in Switzerland. She spent her childhood sledging, skiing and hiking in the nearby meadows and peaks. Her passion for nature and wildflowers led her to become a florist.
Her interest in different cultures and landscapes led Monika to New Zealand. There she fell in love with the beautiful wilderness, it’s friendly locals and eventually her husband. She lived in Aotearoa / New Zealand for many years and has had a successful and varied career as a florist.
With the desire to spend more time outside in nature, she now works in the outdoor adventure industry and as a ski patroller. Monika has gathered great guiding skills through her lifelong enthusiasm for hiking, skiing and climbing.
Monika’s enjoyment of people, the wildlife, native flowers and breathtaking landscapes will ensure you have a great time hiking in the Swiss Alps with her.
